永然是一个坚强乐观的女孩，兄长瘫痪后她独立肩负起照顾哥哥与侄女的责任。因为侄女的关系，她结识了台湾叛逆青年卓勤，因从小便与母亲缺乏沟通，就算家里还算富裕，卓勤仍选择自力更生，只能以盗窃为生。他在与永然一家相处的过程中感受到了家庭的温暖，他们两人也爱上了彼此。 可是卓勤后来遭到黑道追杀，而永然又被证实患上绝症，两个人面临了巨大的困难。到最后又能否冲破困难呢？。Sheltering from the 1918 Spanish Flu at their seaside estate, a Progressive journalist and his socialite wife take in a mysterious grifter as a private cook.
