以曾侯乙编钟为故事来源，以战国时代列国争霸为背景，讲述了曾国国君曾侯乙目睹天下混乱、礼乐崩坏而重铸64件编钟，再现“凤舞”之曲的理想主义奋斗过程。全片通过曾侯乙及楚王、楚国公主云珠、曾国女乐官棠玉对编钟和“凤舞”之曲不同的追求与寄托，以及由此而引发的礼乐与霸道的冲突、权谋和爱情的矛盾，架构出一曲合理合史的古代音乐与政治、生活的凄美传奇。。谢瑜原是谢家大小姐，有一个贴心的未婚夫李衍。齐王谋反，硬娶谢瑜做王妃，李衍以为谢瑜背叛自己，找到齐王谋反证据，一举登上皇位，将谢瑜留在自己身边做贴身女官不停伤害她，然而李衍却不知道这些证据是谢家人找到的......。Framing StoryDr Martin (Robert Powell) arrives at a secluded asylum "for the incurably insane" to be interviewed for a job by the wheelchair-using, authoritarian Dr Lionel Rutherford (Patrick Magee).
