1964年，三名年轻以色列特工报称铲除了绰号「比克瑙医生」的集中营刽子手，回国时受到英雄式的欢迎。四十年后，队员薛夫突然造访当时已成为名作家的女战友丽楚，告知她「医生」仍然在生，并住在乌克兰的一家老人院内。薛夫要求丽楚把这「任务」完成。丽楚回忆那段在柏林的青葱岁月，三人奉命要把纳粹战犯生擒到以色列受审。但任务并不是如他们对外报告般顺利，三人更决意将这秘密永远隐藏，无奈当年的债到今天仍要偿还。。从伊拉克退伍回家的JACK，因为长期遭受战争的摧残，精神接近崩溃，死亡的幻觉笼罩在他全身，让他透不过气来......。Disarmingly realistic in its depiction of the realities of frontier life, Heartland is a strong antidote to the cliches of traditional Westerns. This semi-documentary slice of life is based on the diaries of Elmore Randall Stewart about her days on the Wyoming frontier in the early 20th century. It's a strongly feminist statement about a woman raising her small daughter alone and scrapping for a living by working for a shy Scottish rancher. Director Richard Pearce brings an endearing touch to a film that is helped greatly by the dazzling cinematography of Fred Murphy. Conchata Ferrell and Rip Torn star in this small film that substitutes veracity for a high-powered plot. Pearce worked as a cinematographer on Woodstock and other documentaries before making his directorial debut. Winner of the 1980 Berlin Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival。
